“With a point of departure in the growing field of inquiry bridging media and communcation with social movement studies, this thesis examines the complexities of media practices in political activism. It offers a contribution to this nexus of research by focusing on contemporary modes of radical online video recruited for Left-wing politics and the role of Youtube in promoting and encumbering video activism today. Based on six empirical articles examining three political mobilisations in Europe, this compilation thesis pursues a critical analysis of the dualities and tensions att play in contemporary modes of video activism.”
